Women’s health, at every age
A special interest of Dr Farya’s, informed by her Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists: unhurried, respectful care for women and girls from first periods to later life.
Teenage and young women’s health
Painful or irregular periods, acne, mood, contraception and questions that can feel hard to raise. Younger patients are welcome with a parent or guardian, and there is always time to talk privately.
Periods and hormonal concerns
Heavy, painful, irregular or absent periods, and symptoms that change through your cycle, are looked at alongside your medical history, including any skin or hair changes that come with them.
PCOS and hormonal conditions
Irregular periods, excess hair growth, acne, weight changes or difficulty conceiving can point to polycystic ovary syndrome or another hormonal condition. Assessment, tests where they help and a long-term plan that covers skin, weight and metabolic health together.
Contraception
Choices that fit your preferences, health and stage of life, explained clearly, including options after birth and in the years before menopause.
Pregnancy planning and after birth
Preparing for pregnancy, and the months after it: recovery, pelvic floor, mood, sleep, contraception, skin and hair changes, with referral to midwives, obstetricians or physiotherapists where needed.
Intimate and sexual wellbeing
Concerns such as dryness, discomfort, changes in libido or urinary symptoms deserve a respectful conversation. Medical, hormonal and emotional factors may be relevant, with further assessment or referral where appropriate.
Screening and breast health
Cervical screening, advice on breast screening, and prompt assessment of any new breast change.
Perimenopause and menopause
Irregular periods, hot flushes, night sweats, poor sleep, low mood, brain fog, intimate symptoms or simply not feeling like yourself: any of these is a reason to talk. You do not need to have it all worked out.
We look at your symptoms, medicines, contraception needs, history and priorities, along with bone, heart and metabolic health. Not every midlife symptom is menopause, so tests are chosen for your situation.
You will hear the options, with their benefits, risks and alternatives, and agree a plan for review. Any bleeding after menopause should be checked promptly.
Men’s health
A place to raise energy, sleep, mood, stress, sexual function, urinary symptoms or prostate health, as well as skin, hair, heart and metabolic health.
Tests and screening depend on your symptoms and history, and their purpose and limits are explained first.
Prevention and healthy ageing
Focus on the health and abilities that matter in everyday life.
Heart and metabolic health
Review relevant blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes-risk concerns in the context of personal and family history.
Diabetes and pre-diabetes
Support with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes, including understanding results, reviewing medicines and building a plan around daily life, informed by postgraduate training in diabetes.
Bone, muscle and movement
Discuss strength, activity, mobility and relevant bone-health concerns, with priorities shaped around individual circumstances.
Everyday wellbeing
Sleep, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, movement, smoking, alcohol and the demands on your time can all be part of a practical discussion.
Preventive care
Review relevant medicines, vaccinations and screening needs. There is no assumption that everybody needs the same tests or a fixed package.
A longevity-focused health review
A structured look at the foundations of long-term health: sleep, stress, gut health and inflammation, and hormonal and metabolic health. Tests are chosen only where they would change a decision. There are no promises about lifespan or ‘biological age’.
Blood tests and health reviews
A useful test answers a question that could change your care. Depending on your symptoms and history, that may cover heart and metabolic health, nutrition, thyroid or hormones, or liver and kidney health.
Specialised tests are used selectively; healthy ageing does not need a long test menu. Results are explained in context, including what they cannot tell you.
You will know the purpose and cost of any test beforehand, and how the results will be discussed. Bring recent results so we can start from what you already know.
Your questions, welcomed.
Is this only for people with a particular symptom?
No. You can come with a specific symptom or for a preventive health review. The consultation is shaped around your history and priorities.
Will I need a set of blood tests?
Not necessarily. A test is only worth doing if the result could change your care.
